How it works

  1. Tell us your address and your last 12 months of electricity use.
  2. We study your roof from photos and maps, then book a survey.
  3. You get a clear quote showing the size, the price and the expected saving.
  4. Our MCS-certified installation partner fits it, usually in one to two days for solar.
  5. The network operator is notified, you receive your certificates, and you can apply for export payments.

Local notes for Faversham

Roofs across the area

Semis, terraces and detached homes all suit solar. In Swale, 33.7% of households live in a semi, 29.8% in a terrace and 23.9% in a detached house (Census 2021). East and west roofs still work, and shade from trees matters more than direction.

Planning

Most house roofs in England are permitted development. In a conservation area panels must not be fitted to a wall, balcony or roof enclosure that fronts a highway, and listed buildings need consent. Swale Borough Council supplies records for around 50 conservation areas, so we check your address.

The Kent Downs

South of Faversham, the villages of Sheldwich and Throwley fall inside the Kent Downs National Landscape on national planning data, and Faversham town centre does not (our own point check). Roof panels are not banned in a National Landscape, but we check the boundary and any listing for your address.

Paid for export

Suppliers must pay a rate above zero for the power you export. The rates we read on 7 October 2026 ran from 3p to 18p per kWh, so your supplier choice matters.

Questions about this

How many panels do I need?

A typical house uses 8 to 12 panels, about 3.5 to 5 kWp. Roof space and your use decide.

How long do panels last?

The Energy Saving Trust says panels should last 25 years or more. Inverters often need replacing after about 12 years.

Will panels work in Kent weather?

Yes. Panels make power on cloudy days, only less. The Energy Saving Trust gives solar payback of about 9 to 12 years across the cities it lists, on July 2026 fuel prices.

Are there grants?

There are no dedicated UK Government solar panel grants for most homes, says the Energy Saving Trust. Zero and low-interest loans are planned under the Warm Homes Loan Scheme, and we found no page confirming public availability on 7 October 2026.
